Interested in reading more on the subject of the Christian’s role in the care of creation? Here is a short list of links to get you started. (Note: These sites do not represent official views of Central or the United Methodist Church, but we feel they offer a biblical perspective on the issues as well as some practical ideas for application.)

www.creationcare.org—The Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN) is an evangelical ministry whose purpose is to “declare the Lordship of Christ over all creation” (Col. 1:15-20). EEN was formed in recognition that many "environmental" problems are fundamentally spiritual problems. Its website includes an Evangelical Declaration on Care for Creation and information on EEN’s Creation Care magazine.

www.christiansandclimate.org—The Evangelical Climate Initiative. To make clear its views and commitment, a group of evangelical leaders has issued the statement Climate Change: An Evangelical Call to Action.

www.interfaithstewardship.org—The Interfaith Stewardship Alliance (ISA) is a coalition founded as an alternative to the Evangelical Climate Initiative. The ISA supports the principles espoused in the Cornwall Declaration on Environmental Stewardship.

www.ipcc.ch—the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The IPCC was established by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to assess scientific, technical and socio- economic information relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation. It is currently finalizing its Fourth Assessment Report, “Climate Change 2007.”

www.marah.org— Marah International, a not-for-profit Christian environmental and health organization dedicated to healing human lives and restoring the Earth where there has been significant environmental deterioriation.
