Welcome to Central Avenue Church, a vital and growing community of people in Athens, Ohio who are seeking a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Grab a complimentary cup of coffee or tea on your way in to one of our two identical Sunday-morning worship celebrations. (We go to one 10 AM service during holidays and summer.) Here at Central you'll find a friendly mix of college students and townfolk, young and old, from a variety of nationalities and ethnic backgrounds-in fact, a pretty good reflection of the Athens community as a whole. Whether you’re a mature believer or a skeptic just curious to check out this "Jesus thing," we welcome you to join us in our quest to know God better through contemporary worship, relevant Scriptural messages, and loving service to the world around us. Subscribe via iTunes or point your podcast software to: Baptism We will be celebrating baptism during our services on May 10–11. If you are interested in baptism or have questions about baptism and would like to meet with Jim or Paul first, please contact the office. Saturday-Evening Service Ends We are nearing the end of our Saturday-evening service experiment. The last one for this year will be May 17. We may resume them in the fall, so stay tuned! Children’s Church Helpers Needed A few more volunteers are needed to assist with our growing children’s ministry. Volunteers serve one service per month or both morning services once every other month. What a blessing to touch the lives of our Central children! Contact Sarah Filipiak for more information or complete the tear-off sheet on your Sunday program and put it in the offering plate. Children’s Church Coordinator Central is currently looking for a part-time coordinator for our Children’s Ministry. This is a paid, one-year internship to develop our Children’s Church program, volunteers and events. The job requires approximately 12 hours a week. For more information, pick up an application in the office or contact our Staff/Parish Relations Committee Chair, Linda Richardson. Summer Mission Applications If you are going on a summer mission trip, Central has some support available to assist you. Pick up an application outside the office beginning May 3. Vacation Bible School It may seem like a long time away, but start thinking about SONWORLD Vacation Bible School, scheduled for June 23–27! Many volunteers are needed, so look for more information coming soon.
